Reiki

Reiki is an ancient Japanese energy healing technique that focuses on balancing the energy within the body and the chakras. Reiki healing sessions focus on the health of the physical, spiritual, and emotional body. The word Reiki combines two Japanese words, “Rei” which translates to higher intelligence and “Ki” which translates to life force energy that flows through all living things. A Reiki practitioner has their body's energy cleared and attuned to increase the flow of Ki by a Reiki master.

A Reiki healing session takes about 40 minutes and a client can expect to lay on a massage table, fully clothed, while a Reiki practitioner gently places hands-on areas of the body such as the head, arms, legs, feet, and stomach. Energy work keeps us balanced and when we are balanced we feel better physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Reiki is universal love and is a part of every one of us. In the book Essential Reiki, by Diane Stein, she writes, “The act of laying hands on the human or animal body to comfort and relieve pain is as old as instinct. When experiencing pain, the first thing most people do is to put their hands on it. When a child falls and scrapes her knee, she wants her mother to touch it (or kiss it) and make it better. A mother’s instinct when a child is feverish or ill directs her to place her hands on the baby’s forehead. Human touch conveys warmth, serenity, and healing. It also conveys caring and love… This simple act is the basis for all touch healing techniques.” We have four bodies, our mind-body, spirit body, physical body, and emotional body. While modern medicine treats our physical, reiki treats all four and the root of the pain.

What to Expect

Clients will come to a studio location and there will be music playing, incense burning, and a massage table where one lays fully clothed. Covered in a blanket, with crystals laying on the body, the Reiki session will begin. As the receiver of reiki, one will lay still with eyes closed for about 40 minutes. Once the Reiki session is over, clients have the option to pull tarot cards and discuss anything that came up in their session for both the practitioner and the client.

After a Reiki session, one can expect to feel lighter, calmer, and emotional. In some cases, one might experience a physical or emotional detox.
